A Bit About Valdron Inc
In 1980, when E. R. Jones first started running role playing games, he began to look for a way to bring all game worlds and ideas together into one game. By the mid 1980's he had the bare bones of a system which would ultimately be called Multiverser®, in which player characters moved from universe to universe. By 1992 he had asked M. Joseph Young to help him complete the game and put it to paper; and in the Spring of 1997, as the editing process on this masterpiece of gaming was winding down, the two of them began considering what they would do with it next.
They were very concerned that what they had done not become buried by some company who didn't want the competition with their own line, and that no one would be able to take their vision and destroy it. So they agreed that the best solution would be to found a company specifically to publish Multiverser® and other great games and ideas. But they needed a name.
E. R. Jones had a name he thought would work. He had run a role playing game around the world, as a soldier in the United States Army. The name of the imaginary world in which his games took place was Valdron, originally Valdaronia, named for its somewhat capricious god Valdar. It might give them some name recognition; and they didn't have a better name.
Teasers were already out. The two-page appendix, What is an RPG?, had been published as a web page, and there was an ad in a popular comic book. Excitement was in the air.
On September 4, 1997, Valdron Inc was incorporated in the State of Delaware. Several of the test players became stockholders, investing in the anticipated success of the adventure they had known. There were immediate problems with the computer files which were to become the books, but these were soon corrected, and in December 1997 Multiverser®: The Game, Referee's Rules and Multiverser®: The First Book of Worlds went to press and the first copies were sold to supporters even as it was announced for sale on the Internet.
It did not meet with overnight success; but over time, Multiverser® has garnered more and more attention, as gamers are discovering this unique gaming experience. Today the name of the game is found on forums and websites and in newsletters all over the Internet, and it appears on the pages of e-tailers and the shelves of retailers.
Valdron Inc is committed to the support of its flagship game, and has a number of other products related to it moving into publication; yet the company is always mindful of part of the original vision for the game, that the one rule book would be all anyone would ever need to play the game. With this in view, some materials are given away publicly and through the referee's support site, and others which are being published are designed to be useful but not essential to play.
The company is also bringing other products into production, including board games, other role playing games, card games, new dice designs, fiction, and more. We look forward to many years in support of better gaming.
